Elaine was born and educated in the UK, and has been in the teaching profession for over 20 years in London, Israel and Hong Kong. She gained her undergraduate degree in Theology, from Birmingham University, UK, and her MA is in Philosophy of Education, from the Institute of Education, London. Elaine attained her NPQH (National Professional Qualification in Headship) in November 2017.

Elaine served as Deputy Headteacher of the Jewish Community Secondary School a large Jewish Secondary School in London for 8 years. It was during her role there that she was awarded the National PAJES Jewish School Awards for Deputy Headteachers, which she won for her role in setting up the school. She started her formal teaching career at Immanuel College London, where she was responsible for creating the Social Action programme in the school and launching the Yoni Jesner Award Scheme – a programme encouraging children around the country to volunteer.

She is committed to child centred education and is inspired by the work of Carol Dweck: and her theories of the Growth Mindset. Elaine was an active member of the Senior Faith Leadership Programme run through Cambridge University, and is committed to Interfaith work. Elaine is in Singapore with her husband and two children, who are happy to be studying at SMMIS.

Simcha has been in the education profession for over 20 years. It is through her undeniable passion for Jewish Education that she founded and established the Ganenu Learning center, the first Jewish preschool in Singapore and served as its principal from 1996 for over 10 years when it then became the Sir Manasseh Meyer International school in 2009. Simcha has also served as the principal of the Sunday Hebrew School for many years and is involved in all aspects of the Jewish community. Simcha holds a DEC in education from Marie Victorin, a Diploma of teacher training from Chaya Mushka Seminary both in Montreal Canada, and an Advance Career Award Diploma in Business Management from The Singapore institute of Commerce and the Cambridge local syndicate. Simcha and her husband Rabbi Mordechai Abergel have been serving as the Chabad Shluchim and Rabbi and Rebbetzin of the Jewish Singapore community for the past 24 years, they have 6 children, 2 who are current students at SMMIS while the others each had the chance to experience SMMIS before moving on to various international schools around the globe.

Holly joins SMMIS as Head of Secondary with over 15 years of experience in pastoral and curriculum leadership across both UK and international schools.

Originally from Gloucestershire in the UK, Holly completed a BA in Biology at Cardiff University before gaining her PGCE from the University of Gloucestershire. She spent eight years teaching and leading in a selective school in the UK, where she became a Specialist Leader in Education (Wellbeing), before moving to Bangkok to begin her international career. Most recently, Holly served as Head of Secondary at Britannica International School Budapest and completed the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) in 2025.

A passionate teacher of Biology and Science, Holly also has extensive experience leading wellbeing, pastoral care and Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education. Her leadership is informed by a strong interest in cognitive science and educational research, with a focus on creating evidence-informed practices that enable students and staff to thrive.

Holly believes that taking the time to know every student as an individual is fundamental to helping young people feel supported, develop confidence and achieve success in whatever path they choose.

Outside of school, Holly enjoys exploring the natural world through birdwatching, snorkelling and hiking. She also enjoys yoga and skiing.

Gabrielle holds a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Moreland University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from NYU-Tisch School of the Arts. Originally from New York City, she began her career in professional theatre, specialising in productions for children, where she discovered her passion for the arts in early childhood. She is passionate about inquiry-based learning and fosters a classroom environment where curiosity, creativity, and kindness are central to every day. She encourages children to ask questions, explore ideas, and grow as confident, compassionate learners. Gabrielle believes that each child brings a unique perspective to the classroom, and she is committed to understanding and supporting their individual journeys. With a deep respect for the voices of young learners, she designs experiences that nurture both academic discovery and emotional growth. Gabrielle lives in Singapore with her husband, young daughter, and two cats.

Navvab was born and raised in the Philippines, and has over 20 years in the teaching profession with experience in both Pre-School and Primary School. Navvab holds a degree in BS Chemistry from Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, Philippines and a teaching diploma from St. Nicholas’ Teaching Centre for the Montessori Method of Education, UK.

She is also a Certified Academic Language Practitioner with the Academic Language Therapy Association, US. She firmly believes in the power that education has in bringing out the nobility and latent potential in each child.

Navvab has dedicated over 25 years serving as a Baha’i children’s class teacher in several countries including the Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodia and Singapore. Navvab is married and has two teenage children.

With a Bachelor of Education (Primary Education) degree earned with First Class Honours, Lai Bing has demonstrated exceptional academic achievements and a deep passion for teaching. She also earned a Teaching Certificate from the renowned London Teacher Training College. Beyond her strong foundational training, Lai Bing has also earned the prestigious Google Certified Educator credential. This designation recognises her expertise in leveraging educational tools and applications to enhance student engagement, collaboration and content mastery. Lai Bing is pursuing a Master’s in Special and Inclusive Education at the University of Newcastle’s Singapore campus. This advanced training empowers her to create even more dynamic, equitable and supportive learning environments for her students.

Lai Bing has been a dedicated teacher in Japan, Singapore and China for the past 7 years.

Lai Bing's dedication to her students is unwavering. She sets high standards in preparing all her lessons, presenting them with creative diligence to ensure students master the knowledge being transmitted. Her caring and gentle nature is evident in her patience in attending to students’ challenging needs, often giving them extra support and remedial during her free time. Her passion for teaching and dedication to her students is evident in her innovative teaching methods and the outstanding results of her students. She has demonstrated exemplary responsibility, a high degree of punctuality in completing all tasks assigned to her, and a tremendous capacity for hard work. Also, Lai Bing received the Sony Creative Science Award for Creative Mentorship from Science Centre Singapore for two years. She also gained social responsibility by actively volunteering for the Community Service Initiative.

Jasmine was born and educated in Singapore. She holds an Honours degree from the University of London, majoring in Mathematics and Economics. She is an experienced educator, having taught at both Primary and Secondary levels in Singapore. As an educator, Jasmine is passionate about developing young minds and nurturing students, especially while teaching subjects such as Literacy. She believes in the value of nurturing a love of learning while developing confidence and self-belief within her students, by providing a creative and inspiring learning environment. Jasmine is completing her MA at Charles Stuart University, Australia. When she is not in school developing young minds, Jasmine enjoys hiking and discovering different places. She is also a huge fan of Marvel superheroes.

David was born and raised in the UK, and he attended Cardiff University in South Wales to study a BA in History. David retrained to become a teacher following a successful career in retail, and studied a PGCE in Primary Education at the Institute of Education in London. For the last 10 years David has held positions in the UK, Bangkok and Budapest, both as a class teacher and in leadership roles. He has a values-based approach to education, rooted in whole-child development and wellbeing.

David’s primary motivator is inclusion. As a qualified SEN Coordinator he understands the barriers that can prevent children from fully realising their potential, and the steps educators can and must take to overcome them. David believes in getting the foundational elements in place, and building deeper understanding of subjects through metacognitive approaches.  Teaching is about relationships, and David creates an environment of trust and safety where children feel confident to express their personalities. He also understands that relationships with families are paramount to children’s success, and you will always find him ready to listen.

David's passions outside school are skiing (not so possible in Singapore!), food (very possible in Singapore!), and wildlife photography. He particularly enjoys seeking out the perfect shot of an elusive bird species, and snapping an Oriental Pied Hornbill is top of his list.

Dominic was born in Birmingham but raised in North London, United Kingdom. Dominic was inspired to become a teacher by his sister, who is also a teacher, and learnt from an early age that felt he could give back to society through the profession. At the University of Plymouth, he received a Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education specialising in Mathematics.

Dominic has a wealth of experience in teaching in different environments, having taught for ten years in London and also in Chile. His expertise lie in mathematics, reading and writing where he loves to inspire children to become writers in their own right. He believes in pro-social behaviour techniques, teaching children to not only be great people in school but also in their wider lives. He aspires to build a classroom based on respect, kindness and resilience, where mistakes are seen as a strength that we can all learn from.

Dominic has a wide variety of interests. He is an avid football fan, but also enjoying a variety of differing sports such as: tennis, cricket and badminton. He plays the Classical Spanish Guitar to a grade 6 level and also loves to speak Spanish with his friends.

Lauren is originally from the United Kingdom and has been teaching for twelve years across both primary and secondary education. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Nottingham and completed her PGCE through the UCL Institute of Education as part of the Teach First programme. Lauren also holds qualifications in counselling, which have strengthened her belief in building positive relationships and supporting every child as an individual.

Throughout her career, Lauren has taught across Primary and Secondary, giving her a broad understanding of children’s development and learning. Alongside her classroom experience, she has served as an English Lead and Music Lead and has enjoyed mentoring trainee teachers as they begin their own careers in education.

Lauren is passionate about helping every child discover and celebrate their unique strengths. Whether a student’s talents lie in academics, sport, the arts or simply being a thoughtful and supportive friend, she believes every child has something valuable to offer. She strives to create a classroom where curiosity, resilience and independence flourish, inspiring a lifelong love of learning while helping children develop the confidence to become the very best version of themselves.

Outside of school, Lauren enjoys spending time with family and has a lifelong passion for theatre. She loves acting and founded her own theatre company, acting in, writing and producing original productions for London’s fringe theatres and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. She is excited to continue exploring Singapore’s vibrant arts scene while sharing her enthusiasm for creativity with her students.

Rowan is originally from the UK and has lived here for the past 11 years. She teaches across the primary school age range and brings a diverse and highly skilled background to her work as an educator. Before entering the classroom, Rowan worked as a medical scientist at Cambridge University Hospital, an experience that continues to shape her analytical, evidence-informed approach to teaching.

Rowan holds a Master of Science and a Master of Education and is academically published. She is also qualified in English as a Second Language and is deeply committed to inclusive teaching practices that support the diverse needs of all learners. Her teaching philosophy is grounded in conceptual inquiry, with a strong emphasis on developing curious, confident questioners and critical thinkers.

Rowan is known as a strong relationship builder who maintains high expectations for students, balanced with kindness, consistency, and positive behaviour support. She believes that students learn best in environments where they feel safe, supported, and challenged to achieve their best.

Outside of school, Rowan lives with her husband, two children, a cat, and a sausage dog. She enjoys travelling, swimming, and solving puzzles.

Annie is originally from China and is living in Singapore with her husband and two children. She attained her Master of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (Ji Nan University) and Advanced Diploma in Primary Education from China. She has more than 10 years teaching experience in both Chinese language and music in a number of International Schools across Singapore and China. She believes that “Education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire."

Jessmine holds a Master’s degree in Education and completed her Chinese Language Teaching training at Hainan Normal University, China. She also achieved the Cambridge International Certificate in Teaching & Learning with distinction.

With over ten years of experience teaching Mandarin to students from nursery through to Grade 10, Jessmine has developed a flexible, student-centred approach that supports learners of different backgrounds and abilities. She believes that every student is unique and brings their own strengths and qualities into the classroom. She is passionate about creating a supportive and engaging environment where students feel encouraged to participate, take risks, and grow.

Outside of the classroom, Jessmine enjoys travelling, especially exploring nature and experiencing different cultures, which she often draws on to enrich her teaching.

Mr Junaidi, an esteemed educator with over a decade of experience in the field of teaching, has joined the faculty of Sir Manasseh Meyer International School. Not just an educator, Mr Junaidi is an accomplished musician in the local industry who has melded his love for both music and education into a harmonious career. His arrival at our school heralds an exciting time for our music department, as he brings with him an unparalleled depth of knowledge and a passionate commitment to student growth.

Beyond simply imparting music skills, Mr Junaidi strives to be an all-round music teacher. To him, music education is not just about mastering the technicalities of an instrument or perfecting a piece. It is about broadening the horizons of students, helping them build emotional intelligence, and fostering an enduring love for music that can serve as a source of joy and inspiration throughout their lives.

Tiui studied Visual Communications in Auckland, New Zealand, and has over seven years of experience as an Art Teacher, including serving as Head of Art at international schools in Singapore. He has also developed a strong foundation in student wellbeing through his work in schools, alternative education, and youth justice programmes across Australia, New Zealand, and Samoa, supporting children and young people in developing strong values and positive relationships.

Tiui holds a Bachelor of Physical Education and has taught PE, Health, and Dance across Australasia and Europe. He also holds a Graduate Diploma in Expressive Arts Therapy, which enables him to engage students through a range of sensory and creative approaches to learning in the classroom.

Mei Hwa has a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and has worked in multiple Pre-School settings with young children aged 18 months to 5 years old. She believes that children should be highly motivated and actively involved in their own learning with the teacher as a facilitator to provide enriching activities and an optimal environment for children to learn. As an early childhood professional, she believes that it is important to remain open-minded, be willing to learn from others and adapt to changes in order to provide the best learning experiences possible for young children.

Chanelle Ohayon-Crosby, originally from Santa Barbara, California, has lived in France and China. She holds a BA in Political Science focused on International Relations from UCLA and an MA in Communication specializing in Nonprofit and Corporate Communication from Johns Hopkins University.

As a certified Shoah storyteller through the Teach the Shoah program, she is committed to preserving history and sharing impactful narratives. Her diverse professional background spans advocacy at the American Jewish Committee (AJC), e-commerce, and communication consulting.

Chanelle is thrilled to inspire students with her love for reading and storytelling. She strongly believes in the magic of books and is eager to share that joy with the students at SMMIS. Singapore is home with her husband and two children, surrounded by their overflowing bookshelves.

With over a decade of experience in the international school environment, the Head of Swimming brings a rich background as a competitive swimmer to the role. She is dedicated to nurturing a passion for the sport in every student, whether they are just beginning as young children or training at competitive levels.

Her focus is on developing essential skills to ensure that every child becomes swim-proof, instilling confidence and safety in the water. She is also committed to integrating swimming more fully into the school’s physical education programme, enhancing overall student engagement and promoting a lifelong appreciation for the sport.

Originally from Colorado in the USA, Erik did his undergraduate and graduate work at the liberal arts institution, Colorado College, before starting three decades of international school employment. He has worked in all division in a physical education capacity, has taught drama, is an experienced athletic coach, and has been the director of athletic and activity programs. Be involved and active himself are ways in which he models these key learning principles for his students. He also encourages the balance between competition and collaboration. A former semi-pro footballer, seasoned actor, and musical performer, Erik also enjoys downhill skiing, ice skating, scuba diving, tennis, traveling to new places, and spicy food. Erik and his partner, Kim, have a middle schooler who loves to dance, play tennis, and speak Chinese.

Before joining SMMIS he spent many years teaching at a large Jewish Secondary School in London and also has experience teaching a variety of subjects as a KS2 class teacher. Dean is in Singapore with his wife and two children, who are happy at SMMIS.

Delphine has 26 years of experience teaching French and Spanish in secondary schools across a range of international contexts, including England, Egypt, Mexico, India, Brunei and Singapore. She is deeply passionate about education and firmly believes it to be one of the most powerful ways to bring people from diverse cultures and backgrounds together, contributing to a more peaceful and sustainable world. Outside the classroom, she enjoys outdoor activities, reading and travelling.

He is constantly in search of new and engaging methods to further stretch and challenge his students critical and creative thinking. Eugan believes that through a good process of learning, any goal can be achieved.

Megan studied Multimedia Computing in Liverpool before beginning her career in the computing industry, where she spent three years working as a web developer and UX designer. She then transitioned into education and spent five years teaching in Kuwait, specialising in Computer Science and ICT.

Megan has a strong interest in educational technology and has completed a Master’s in Education Technology. She is passionate about using technology in meaningful and engaging ways to enhance teaching and learning and to help students develop the digital skills they need for the future.

Sara is a trained contemporary pianist, organist, keyboardist and vocalist with over 15 years of teaching experience in Singapore, Norway and Malaysia. She is qualified in Master’s in Music Technology from the University of Newcastle (Australia), Postgraduate Certificate of Education (international) from Liverpool John Moores University (United Kingdom) and Bachelor of Music (Hons) in Popular Music & Music Technology from the University of Wolverhampton (United Kingdom). Sara served as the founding Head of Music, Examinations Officer and Core Professional Development and Learning Lead at the Perse School Singapore. During her role at Perse School, she received the prestigious nomination for the Cambridge dedicated teacher award 2024. Sara brings with her a wealth of experience lecturing at the UCSI University contemporary music department and music tutoring at the Oslo International Music School, Alice Smith and Nexus International School, Malaysia. She also served previously as organist and choir pianist at Metodistkirken på Grünerlokka, Oslo.

Sara is a passionate and inspiring music educator who brings a harmonious blend of passion and expertise to the classroom. With a background deeply rooted in both music performance and pedagogy, she is an advocate in cultivating a love for music in students of all ages. In Sara’s classroom, music comes alive as students journey through a diverse array of musical experiences, exploring music theory, honing instrumental and vocal skills, delving into the rich tapestry of musical history, every lesson is a learning opportunity for students to discover their unique musical voice. At her free time, you will find Sara cooking up a storm in the kitchen and exploring the beautiful nature in Singapore with her husband and two daughters.

Sarah was born and educated in the UK. She studied Fine Art (3D) at Central Saint Martins before completing her Post Graduate Certificate in Education and a Master of Education at the University of Cambridge. She has taught in schools in London, Vietnam, and now Singapore, where she lives with her husband and young son. Sarah has held a number of leadership roles in her career, including Head of Department and Gifted and Talented Coordinator. She loves sharing her passion for art with students, encouraging them to develop their ideas, refine their skills, and appreciate the intrinsic value of studying art. Sarah also enjoys extending learning beyond the classroom through visits to galleries, exhibitions and creative workshops.

Sayu was born and raised in Dubai and had a multilingual upbringing. She later moved to India and graduated with a Master of Arts in English Language and Literature from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala.

Her second Master’s Degree was in Tourism Administration for which she secured the highest distinction from the Institute of Management Studies, Indore. In pursuit of her dream of nurturing young people, she also earned a Post Graduate Certificate in Learning, Teaching and Assessing from the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff.

With a career spanning more than 16 years in education, Sayu has worked in various roles including Senior Lecturer, Secondary School Teacher, Curriculum Designer and Senior Academic Manager. Sayu enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, when not whipping up a storm in the kitchen.

Shyla is a Singaporean, raised in India, with over 25 years of experience in Science Education between the Middle East and Singapore. Shyla graduated summa cum laude from Calicut University with her Bachelor of Science (Physics) and attained her Masters of Science, in Physics, from Cochin University of Science and Technology. In addition, she holds a Bachelor of Education from Annamalai University, India.

In her previous role in her IGCSE Physics classes, students achieved 100% passes, with over 80% of students returning with A*s (in comparison to 23.4% A*s worldwide). Shyla teaches IGCSE Coordinated Science and Lower Cambridge Science.

An ardent believer of life-long learning, she also incorporates various strategies to teach in our highly digitised environment. A committed member of our school's staff wellbeing and charity committees, Shyla is keen to work on causes around social and environmental causes. She lives with her husband and two sons and enjoys baking, gardening  and travelling.

Teddy is an Australian educator with more than six years of professional international teaching experience across Guangdong, China. He holds a Professional Doctorate in Education, a Master of Arts in TESOL, an International PGCE, and a CELTA. In previous years, he was involved in English camps across Southeast Asia for five years. He specialises in Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International A Level English, alongside a background in IELTS preparation.

He brings leadership experience from international schools in China, where he served as Acting Academic Director, English Coordinator, Acting Language Learning Director, Recruitment and Training Executive and Subject Leader. A committed constructivist educator, he designs student-centred, inquiry-based learning environments that nurture critical thinking, creativity, cultural awareness, and global citizenship. He believes deeply in fostering a growth mindset, empowering students to embrace challenges and grow with dignity, resilience, and curiosity.

He views education as a shared journey of continuous learning, and looks forward to building a warm, collaborative English classroom where every student feels supported to think deeply, write with precision, and engage confidently with the world around them.

Windclaire Sese-Mendez is an experienced History teacher and School Counsellor from the Philippines. She has a Bachelor of Secondary Education in History, units in Master of Education major in Guidance and Counselling, and currently pursuing a Master of Science in Education. For the past 16 years, she has taught Social Studies at secondary international schools in some parts of Asia. As a facilitator of learning, her goal is to provide a venue for students to express and formulate ideas and become an active part of society. She develops inclusive and inspiring hands-on lessons that help capture students' imagination and breed success. For Windclaire, her students are her children whom she nurtures so they can become the best version of themselves. She looks not just after their academic growth but their total well-being. Outside of school, Windclaire is interested in culture and heritage, visiting places, and spending quality time with her family.

Simcha has been in the education profession for over 20 years. It is through her undeniable passion for Jewish Education that she founded and established the Ganenu Learning center, the first Jewish preschool in Singapore and served as its principal from 1996 for over 10 years when it then became the Sir Manasseh Meyer International school in 2008. Simcha has also served as the principal of the Sunday Hebrew School for many years and is involved in all aspects of the Jewish community.

Simcha holds a DEC in education from Marie Victorin, a Diploma of teacher training from Chaya Mushka Seminary both in Montreal Canada, and an Advance Career Award Diploma in Business Management from The Singapore institute of Commerce and the Cambridge local syndicate.

Simcha and her husband Rabbi Mordechai Abergel have been serving as the Chabad Shluchim and Rabbi and Rebbetzin of the Jewish Singapore community for the past 24 years, they have 6 children, 1 of whom is a current student at SMMIS while the others each had the chance to experience SMMIS before moving on to various international schools around the globe.

Born in London, Dean obtained a degree in Psychology from the University of Birmingham before pursuing a PGCE from the London School of Jewish Studies where he specialised in Jewish Education. Dean spent two years in Jerusalem studying Talmud, Jewish law and philosophy.

Before joining SMMIS he taught at a large Jewish Secondary School for 6 years, and also has experience teaching a variety of subjects as a KS2 class teacher in addition to teaching KS3 English. Dean is in Singapore with his wife and two children, who are happy at SMMIS.

Kohi was born in Israel and has been living in Singapore since 2001. Kohi holds a Bachelor of Business from Derby University in Israel. Kohi holds several certificates in Education which include Teaching and Supporting Children with Special Needs and a course on Learning disabilities. Kohi has also completed the Tal Am training programme. Kohi lives in Singapore with her husband and two children. Kohi’s passion is teaching the Hebrew language and teaching children a love for Israel.

Odelia was born and educated in Israel. She holds a B.E.D. and Teaching Diploma, and was trained for the Tal Am programme in Israel and in Singapore. She has taught in Israel and Singapore. She has taught students from Nursery to Grade 8, focusing on Jewish Education, Tal Am and Hebrew Studies.

Odelia and her husband, Rabbi Netanel Rivni moved to Singapore to join the Chabad Shluchim and serve the Jewish community with all the Jewish aspects and needs since 2006. Odelia’s vision is to empower the children with Jewish education through passion and love, that will remain with them in their future.

She is the Principal of Sunday School and runs two educational camps every year. Odelia lives in Singapore with her husband and five children.

Olga has a Bachelor of Arts in Multidisciplinary Track Social Science, specialising in Education and Political Science, which included courses in Torah and Jewish Studies during her degree studies. Olga has many years teaching experience from volunteering as a Sunday School Teacher.

For 8 years Olga taught Hebrew-speaking and non Hebrew speaking children to read and write, developing individual programmes for each student at different levels.

Olga lives in Singapore with her husband and three daughters. She is very positive and patien, she loves children and all her students.

Tsipi graduated from Achva College in Israel and holds a B.E.D and Teaching Diploma. She is driven by her love of the Hebrew language and Jewish Heritage Studies. Tsipi has been teaching at SMMIS since 2000 in the Hebrew and Jewish education department.

Through the years she has taught classes from tiny-tots to Grade 7 and was instrumental in establishing the Tal Am programme in the school. Tsipi her husband and their four children have lived in Singapore since 1999 Tsipi is also an active member of the Jewish community and loves spending quality time with her family and friends.

Yonit was born and educated in Israel, she holds a diploma in Architecture from Tel Aviv College. Yonit is an experienced Pre-School Educator and has been teaching children at SMMIS from Tiny Tots to Nursery over the last 7 years. Yonit and her husband moved to Singapore 20 years ago from Hong Kong. They have 6 children, three of which are currently happy studying at SMMIS.

Anu holds a Diploma in Learning Disorders Management and Child Psychology. Anu has gained vast experience working with children and young adolescence with special needs. Through her jovial personality, love for children and passion for education she cultivates and encourages a caring and conducive environment for all under her tutelage. She firmly believes that each child is to be treated as an individual as they portray unique qualities and come with infinite curiosity as well as the potential to learn and grow.

She is an advocate of collaborations with families to further support children in their holistic development. Anu spends her free time reading, cloud spotting and being a plantsman with her very own garden to show for.

Buvanes holds a Bachelor of Counselling (SUSS) and a Diploma in Special Education (NIE). She has always aspired to work in an educational setting and found her calling as a Learning & Behavioural Support for students with special needs in a local mainstream school.

She has worked as a Special Education Teacher in a local special school. As an educator, she believes that students thrive better when exposed to a well-rounded education and that they should work towards the greater good at all times. In her free time, Buvanes enjoys cooking.

She is also continuously learning new and significant things from her child.

Tamil holds a Diploma in Special Education from NIE. She has always been interested in teaching children, particularly those who need additional support, motivation and hand-holding. She began her teaching career as a special education teacher with a local SPED school. Having the child’s interests, as well as their learning difficulties, at the centre of planning for a lesson makes a big difference. Tamil sees every child as unique and learns from each one, becoming a better teacher along the way.

Bilu has worked at Sir Manasseh Meyer International School for over 20 years, assisting teachers in the care and education of the students of the school. Her passion for working with children is what makes her love her role. Being passionate about what she does helps to inspire her students to get interested and excited about what they are learning. It also makes the students enjoy and look forward to coming to school.

Bilu builds caring relationships with her students to better understand their needs and give them a person they can come to when they need help or just to help them feel at ease at school.

Jasbir was born and educated in India and moved to Singapore in 1997. Jasbir has been with SMMIS since 2008 (15 years) and has worked with various classes from Tiny Tots to grade 2. She has a passion for working with children and enjoys works closely with teachers to help each child reach their maximum potential.

She initially worked at Kodak, Singapore until the Company moved on and then joined SMMIS as Teaching Assistant. Karen has worked at SMMIS for more than 10 years and has found the years that she has been with SMMIS to be very rewarding. Karen has worked with classes from Tiny Tots to Grade 1. She has worked closely with teachers to assist with the children’s growth in all subjects. She enjoys watching the children grow each year and move on confidently to the next grade.

Jonathan was born and raised in the UK and holds a Master of Education (MEd) degree with distinction from Queen’s University Belfast. He is a professional, highly motivated and dedicated CELTA certified ESAL teacher with excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. In addition to his four years spent teaching in Singapore, he has also taught in Peru and Nepal, where he worked with children and young adults from a wide range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. He is adept at providing a nurturing, supportive and positive classroom climate that is conducive to learning and which encourages student responsibility using positive motivation, clear classroom routines, challenging instructional strategies and effective classroom management techniques.

In his free time, Jonathan swims, reads and studies Mandarin Chinese. He is inspired by the determination of our youth and strives to facilitate the growth of the upcoming generation at SMMIS!

Born in Israel, Tom Aviram holds a Master’s degree in Social Justice and Education from University College London, with a focus on literacy and arts-based pedagogy. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary English Education from the University of Missouri. Tom has extensive experience working with English language learners and has taught a wide range of age groups in both classroom and tutoring settings. Before joining SMMIS, she worked as a substitute teacher and educator in the United States, where

she focused on supporting students in English, literacy, and creative expression. With a strong background in literature, creative writing, and inclusive pedagogy, Tom creates engaging, student-centered environments that celebrate identity, culture, and critical thinking. Outside the classroom, Tom is a proud member of the Jewish community and is committed to fostering a warm, respectful, and inclusive space for all. She is excited to be part of the SMMIS community and to call Singapore her new home.

LeeAnn is passionate about connecting families with education that truly makes a difference. From her first interaction with SMMIS, she was inspired by its warm, family-like community and its clear vision of nurturing the whole child academically, emotionally, and socially. Having lived, studied, and worked across diverse cultures and countries, LeeAnn has a natural understanding of diverse family cultures and needs. With over 10 years of experience in admissions and marketing at international schools, she is committed to helping families discover the caring and inclusive environment at SMMIS. LeeAnn takes pride in sharing the school’s values-driven ethos and building meaningful connections that create lasting impact.

Waverly (Wave) is a creative and initiative driven learner with a strong interest in education and content creation. Wave enjoys organizing ideas into structured plans, and exploring how design and digital tools can make learning more engaging for others. Wave is passionate about storytelling and design, she brings creativity, adaptability, and strong organisational skills to craft events and campaigns that build meaningful connections.

Alice is the Admissions Representative for Israeli families at SMMIS. Born and raised in Vienna, she trained and worked there as a licensed physical therapist before spending eight years in Israel, where she served as a legal assistant supporting Holocaust survivors.  

Fluent in three languages, Alice thrives in multicultural environments and loves connecting with families from diverse backgrounds. As a parent of two children at SMMIS, she feels a strong personal connection to the school’s values and is passionate about helping families feel at home in the SMMIS community.

Elena holds an LCCI Diploma in Secretarial Administration and has over 13 years of experience working in EduTrust certified private education institutions. Elena has extensive knowledge and experience overseeing the admin and admissions process in Private Education Institutions. She was pleased to join the SMMIS team in 2020 and since this time has offered vital support to new families during the admissions process. Elena is warm and friendly and believes that a positive attitude and strong values in life can change a person.

Joy has extensive experience in HR across a variety of industries. She studied HR Management at SHRI Academy and completed a Certificate in Employment Intermediaries (Basic) CEI at NTUC. Joy is a Certified Human Resource Manager and has been at SMMIS for the past 5 years.

Valentina studied Accounting and Finance at Curtin University of Technology and is a member of CPA Australia. She worked at another international school in Singapore prior to joining SMMIS.

Previously a senior auditor in one of the professional accounting firms in Singapore, Valentina has been in the accounting and audit industry for over 9 years.

Wei San Go is the friendly face you will see at the Front Desk as you enter SMMIS. She is the PA to the Principal and performs many other tasks in the school. Wei San is an essential linchpin that connects students, parents, staff, administration together.

Win Tun is an essential member of the Premises Team. He has a Bachelor of Science (Physics) from the University of Mawlamyine, a Diploma of Electrical Technology from ITE College and has completed the Building Construction and Supervisor Safety Course at the Armstrong Health and Safety Training Provider.

Mr Low ensures the premises and facilities at SMMIS are well maintained and safe for the students and staff at the school. He has had many years of work experience in the South East Asia Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) and at the Regional English Language Centre (RELC). Mr Low has previously worked in manufacturing, construction, shipyard of Oil and Gas. He holds a Diploma in Maintenance & Management of Building from Ngee Ann Technical College, Graduate Diploma in Project and Facilities Management from Singapore Institute of Engineering Technologists and a Post Graduate Diploma in Facilities Management from Sheffield Hallam University.

SMMIS has close ties with The Other Clinic (TOC), a Therapy Centre committed to offering high quality psychological services here in Singapore. They are a friendly team of professional counsellors and psychologists supporting mental wellness across the age span. People easily communicate about their physical health but not about their mental health.
