Principal's Message

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Sir Manasseh Meyer International School, a not-for-profit Jewish school in Singapore. At SMMIS we have a deep moral and ethical foundation and promote a strong sense of community. Your child will receive a first-class education in a small, safe and nurturing environment, with internationally trained staff and outstanding state-of-the-art facilities.

We have engineered and implemented a bespoke curriculum, custom-built to meet the unique needs of our diverse and ambitious community, from Preschool to Grade 10. We combine the best from around the world in service of our diverse student body. Our Preschool is inspired by Reggio Emilia and play-based learning, offering a hands-on,loving and enriching environment. In the Primary School, we blend British National Curriculum Literacy and Singapore Maths with the enquiry-based International Primary Curriculum (IPC). In our Secondary School, we follow the International Middle Years Programme (IMYC) and offer the Cambridge iGCSE qualifications. All students enjoy learning Ivrit or Mandarin, creative art, music, drama and Maker space lessons, and we offer a wide variety of enrichment and co-curricular opportunities.

We encourage children to appreciate that they are the ‘masters of their own destiny’ and give them the confidence to develop as individuals. Our unique pedagogic ethos is inspired by a Culture of Thinking and we educate our students to have a Growth Mindset, to understand that life is a journey. They are encouraged to grasp opportunities as they arise and to embrace mistakes as part of the learning journey.

We provide a holistic learning experience to enable each child to grow into fully rounded, socially responsible individuals. We develop students who have a love for lifelong learning, in a school that inspires excellence. At SMMIS we believe that as members of a global community, we each have a role to play in making the world a better place. Based on the Jewish concept of TikunOlam, Healing the World, service learning is seen as an integral part of life at SMMIS.

Reflecting the cultural diversity of Singapore, SMMIS is an internationally diverse community that welcomes students from around the globe. We welcome families from all faiths and are in a unique position to promote interfaith dialogue and cultural understanding. Throughout the year we learn about the national, cultural and religious festivals of different communities in Singapore, with over 30 nationalities and 6 faiths, everyone’s identity is celebrated.

At SMMIS the mental health and well being of our students is paramount. The modern world can be challenging for many, our strong pastoral systems and our Child Protection and Safeguarding policies, reflect our commitment to keeping our students safe in education and enabling them to flourish.
